DR. AMY PEELER and BETHANY FAULDS

Dr. Peeler, Professor of New Testament; Bethany Faulds, DM Chair 19-20, DSG Director 19-20

Small groups can be places where complex topics are discussed, and Dr. Peeler and Bethany assist us in thinking through experiences of women in ministry.

Main Session: Women’s Experiences in Ministry

Possible Discussion Questions:

  1. How can we treat each other with dignity and civility in this discussion?

  2. How can we love each other well in the midst of (in spite of) our differences?

  3. Application to Strongholds: both Egalitarians and Complementarians emphasize the God-given value of both sexes. How can we use our sexuality to see and honor each other through the lens of that value?

  4. Women: What scares/excites you about this discussion?

  5. Men: What do I have to learn about this discussion? Did either of the speakers present anything that you haven't thought of?

  6. Both: Give the leaders slips to write down additional questions, concerns, etc. that the coach can collect and use later in the year to continue this conversation.

  7. Open up the conversations by making a list of all that the room agreed on and then move into a respectful conversation about how to listen to the disagreements.
